Pinterest To Get A Makeover

Morning All,

Just a quick post this morning, I was hearing on the rumour mill yesterday that Pinterest would be giving itself a bit of a mini makeover, and have seen this morning from the official Pinterest blog that infact this would be happening.

There has been no official comment from the company regarding the “sponsored pin” rumour that I also was hearing yesterday, so can’t comment on that, other than, IF it does happen I’m sure we will all know in plenty of time.

During the next few weeks Pinterest will be Beta testing the improved platform with a small group of users (and yes I have already submitted my interest in being one of those!)

Improvements and updates have been based on user feedback, which Pinterest actively request and support from their users, some of the changes we can expect to see are as follows:

Improved site navigation by the looks of it, your experience will be faster and much more comprehensive than the current platform.

They’ve made pins BIGGER and increased the information associated with any pin – which will make searching for things EVEN easier than before. For example, on each pin, you’ll see pins from the same board, other boards this pin was pinned to, and a whole slew of related pins.

Their work behind the scenes on the platform too has been improved, which is believed to have made the site a whole lot faster too.

If you want to be considered for the Beta Testing you can register your interest here  and if you have any bright ideas or suggestions for improving the platform then as mentioned above you can send these direct to the developers by visiting the site

Seeing as Pinterest is becoming a personal guilty pleasure of mine, I am excited to see the facelift and plan on making much more use of the site in 2013 to help skyrocket my business!

Have a great day!

Clair :)

I hadn’t heard about the proposed updates to Pinterest. I’ll be interested to see what the changes will be. I quite like how Pinterest is already, so I have no idea what the updates will be. Maybe they will allow more sharing of videos?

Whatever it is, I just hope they don’t ruin themselves like Facebook have with some of their latest updates.

    Great post Clair!

      Hi Matt,

I’m hearing all kinds of things about promoted pins …. I hope its not the case …. :( I quite like how it works as is, but bigger pins and a faster experience and increased searching would be fabulous!

So lets keep our eyes and ears open I guess!

I use it but not very big on it, it is one of those things that I need to focus more on as I can easily forget about it, then suddenly remember to go and take a look.

I look forward to see what your thoughts and opinions are once you have used the new set up for a while.

I think that I am actually still a little confused and lost with how it all works really. Will you be writing a Pinterest ebook soon? :-)

Andi, its something I use and put down, but I am REALLY trying to focus on the future and keep pinning pics! Installing the PIN IT button to my web browser has made a MASSIVE impact and I am making a conscientious effort to pin more …

It is REALLY rather fun too :)

I don’t think I’m anywhere near experienced to write an eBook on the subject yet …. but NEVER SAY NEVER – I want to learn more about this for sure!

      Hi Amit,

      Thanks for stopping by :)

I didn’t start out life as a Pinterest Addict, but I am fast becoming one! I really like it for its simplicity – visuals are so key – people can resonate with an image – it provokes thoughts and feelings – and in our work, blogging, IM, Social Media if someone resonates with an image it can help with a click through rate – so for me I’m just working this into my routine and schedule now and so far the feedback is in the positives and is gaining more exposure for the things I am pinning :)
